Review: "Happy for No Reason" by Marci Shimoff

I picked up this book recently, mostly because it was just released in January and I caught wind of the promotions for this book. Although I've been a practicioner of the Law of Attraction and write this blog, I never gave much thought to learning how to raise my Happiness. Until recently I never came across anything substantial regarding happiness, other than, "do what makes you happy." Not that I didn't need nor want happiness. I was just comfortable with where I was and felt a general sense of happiness. Well, in retrospect, maybe it was contentedness.

The book is authored by Marci Schimoff with Carol Kline. Marci is the coauthor of Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul and briefly featured in the movie The Secret.

This is the first book I've read devoted to the emotion and psychology of Happiness. With little surprise, since I started reading this book, I've been exposed to many resources, blog postings, studies, videos and references to Happiness. Some of which can be found at the end of this post.

Having interviewed 100 people she calls The Happy 100, this book is filled with numerous examples of what people do for happiness. These stories are filled with examples of how people have transformed their lives, not through money and things, but learning to live a life of happiness.

This book also provides scientific studies and research done on the emotion and psychology of Happiness. I tend to like scientific documentation and support of claims that someone makes. Don't get the wrong idea, I find the actual scientific reports to be less than interesting. I do like to have someone else trudge through the scientific research and translate into common English. Marci Shimoff did just that very well.

This is an easy and enjoyable book to read. Marci uses an extended metaphor of building a house as our house of happiness. Starting with a foundation, the framework, roof and finally the outside garden. Each chapter gives a woven blend of scientific studies and research, Marci shares her personal history and stories from The Happy 100 give real world examples of people with little to no happiness and how to develop greater happiness. Also in each chapter are exercises we can incorporate into our lives to raise our happiness.

Some of the best things I learned in this book:

- Just reading and learning about happiness, raises one's happiness.

- Others have challenges and hard times. By learning HOW to be happy, we can live a more fulfilling life.

- Happy people live longer.

- Happy people have better relationships.

- Happy people make more money.

- Happy people are healthier.

- Happy people are, well, happier.

I recommend reading Happy for No Reason.

ProBlogger: Tips Tricks and How To for Blogging

Although this site is not specific to the Law of Attraction I did attract this site to come into my awareness so I could learn to write a better blog.

When looking into the process of blogging, I came across many articles and sources of the "how to" nature of blogging, but the one I reference repeatedly is ProBlogger.

ProBlogger is a great site that gives tips and tricks to writing blogs, articles to write about, how to monetize your blog, it also includes links to other authors that have tips and tricks, etc.

Here are some examples of the wonderful information I've found on ProBlogger:

Review: Bob Doyle's Wealth Beyond Reason program by Boundless Living

Bob Doyle, one of the presenters in the movie The Secret, gained his reputation through his Wealth Beyond Reason book and program that are available through his company Boundless Living.

Like many of you, I first came across Bob Doyle through his appearance in the movie The Secret. In the process of researching who the presenters were, I read Bob's biography. I was attracted to his site and his speaking style which struck a cord with me. He seems very grounded, logical and honest. I too am a bit of a logical person and with this subject of Law of Attraction, and touching on metaphysics, understanding the science is very appealing to someone like me.

First there is a free level of membership at Wealth Beyond Reason. Once you get access to the free material and you find value in that, then you can do what I did and sign-up for the full program.

With the full Wealth Beyond Reason program you get several ebooks:

"Wealth Beyond Reason" by Bob Doyle

"A Happy Pocketful of Money" by David Cameron

"The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles
This is the book that inspired Rhonda Byrne to make The Secret.

"Spirtual Marketing" by Joe Vitale
Joe is another presenter in The Secret.

"Wealth Consciousness" by Roger Lanphear

"The Everyday 12 Point Lifesaver" by David Cameron

"Raising Humans" by David Cameron

"Introduction to Wealth Consciousness" audio seminar by Bob Doyle

The "Wealth Consciousness Meditation" by Boundless Living Audio

Some of these titles you may have already come across in other programs or on their own as printed material. Being a bit of an environmentalist I tend to like ebooks. Not only do they save paper, I send them to one of my webmail accounts so I can have access to them whenever I have time to read and I'm on someone else's computer. You can easily print these ebooks and have a hardcopy if you desire.

I signed up as a full program member of the Wealth Beyond Reason program from the beginning. There are different levels of sign-ups that allow more access to program components at different levels. I just started out as a full member. Bob does provide a 3 payment plan that I took advantage of and gave me full access from the beginning and spread my cost over three months. Very convenient.

One feature I really like about this program, it's a lifetime membership. I paid once and will have access to the website forever.

I find the site very easy to navigate. The sites' navbar is on the left and available on every page throughout.

The "Before You Begin" section at the top of the navbar gives you everything you need to start the program, including an introduction to the program, links to free software that you might need such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and WinAmp MP3 player, the ebooks to download, the audio MP3 programs, bonus material and a step-by-step process for manifestation and using the program. For beginning PC users, Bob explains how to download and save files. He explains how to copy to CDs. He even has recorded the information onto CDs if you'd rather save time and buy the prerecorded CDs.

The program includes audio Lectures, Follow-up Seminars, Coaching Seminars, Expert Interviews, an Introduction to EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique); Attraction Techniques; "Money Stuff" lectures; LoA Resources Library, Article Archive, Coaching Blog, a Mastermind Area forum, email archives, updates, and more.

Although I was already familiar with some information about the Law of Attraction from my previous metaphysical studies and from the movie The Secret, Bob's program really expanded and clarified the concepts for me helping me to be more mindful of my thoughts. I still go back and read the ebooks for a refresher and listen to the audios every once in awhile, just to get back to the basics. You got to do the basics. It all begins with the basics.

Bob does add new material from time to time. Really with so much information on the Wealth Beyond Reason site already, the "from time to time" is good enough for me since I do have plenty of other Law of Attraction material to read and write about.

Overall this is a great program. I made a connection with Bob Doyle through his Wealth Beyond Reason program and I do highly recommend this program to you. Check it out.

Please enjoy.

Emotional Freedom Technique: "It often works where nothing else will."

Since I've been working with the Law of Attraction, I've been doing a lot of reading and learning. I mentioned earlier, I've also done other reading and work in Personal Development and spiritual studies. But of all the techniques and processes I've come across, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) has got to be the easiest and most practical technique available.

Emotional Freedom Technique was developed by Gary Craig. It utilizes the same concept of the accupuncture energy system of meridians within the body, but without the needles.

And it works on a lot of issues.

To quote from the EFT website:

Based on impressive new discoveries regarding the body's subtle energies, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has been proven successful in thousands of clinical cases. It applies to just about every emotional, health and performance issue you can name and it often works where nothing else will.

In Chinese medicine there are energy lines or "meridians" throughout the body. The meridians are lines or channels of energy that flow throughout the body. There are both major and minor lines. The energy that flows through these meridians is our CHI or Lifeforce. The more and freer the energy flows, the more vitality of our life, the more in tune with our spirit side.

One way to think of these lines of energy is like a river. When unobstructed, the water flows swiftly through the banks of the river. Add dirt, rocks, trash and other debris then the river is blocked and the flow encounters resistance to free flowing. Likewise, when our meridians or energy lines get blocked with negative thoughts then the energy flow is restricted in our lives. Hence our disharmonious aspect of our life.

There are two components to using EFT. One is verbal to get us in tune with our emotional release and the other is physical to facilliate the process. The verbal component is a set-up phrase, to get your mind in tune with the emotional blockage within our system and a shorter reminder phrase as you go through the process. The physical component is tapping you finger on certian points of the face and body that help loosen or dislodge the blockage within the meridian.

Since I started using EFT, I've had an overall calm feeling about my life. I've used it to get rid of headaches, worry, relieve stress. EFT is being used by therapists and healers to accomplish many other reliefs as well such as back pain, anxiety, phobias and fears, it also helps some people to stop smoking and many more. It can even be used to implant or anchor in positive emotions.

Best of all, the EFT has a free website. There is a free introductory training manual to download and learn the basics, a free newsletter (sometimes I think the newsletter is too frequent) and for those who want to develop more of the skills with this wonderful technique I highly recommend getting the DVD packages: # 1 "The EFT Course" and # 6 "Borrowing Benefits". Additional DVD sets help therapists and other health practioners learn additional techniques for more specific issues.

At least check out the Emotional Freedom Technique website. You can get the free manual and subscribe to the newsletter by clicking here.
